Hot Stick

A Hot Stick is a tool usually used by linemen when working on live high voltage lines.

It is made from insulated material, such as fiberglass, and could be as long as 40 feet. It can have different tools attached to it, so a lineman is able to do many functions with it in the repair of high voltage transmission lines.
Most electrical work is done on high voltage lines while the power is still on making a Hot Stick a necessary tool for the safety of the linemen making the repair. The advantage of working on hot lines is, of course, to prevent the users from being disconnected from power while maintenance work is being performed.
